regulars takes her free hand; he
says “I hear you’re a dancer.

donut with my coffee - hey,
don’t you know I don’t take cream.”

It takes so
much daily courage to keep going on.

She goes
upstairs; class has started. the dance teacher looks
at her blankly.

It’s a good
workout; she’s lost her turnout, still those old aches feel good again.

magazine down by the bedside. She’s at the sink, washing nylons.
